Enjoy Music Outdoors with Wireless Outdoor Speaker

I have been searching for a decent way to enjoy my music outdoors for a long long time. In the early days I just use my normal speakers. The big issue was they were not powerful enough to give enough clarity except at few meters distance. This was not acceptable to me as I am a total outdoor fan. I can say that I live outdoors more than indoors. Generally when I have any leisure time I set up picnic or just hang out in the outdoor place with friends

So I tried buying outdoor speaker as it was considered a specialized speaker would do the trick. It did indeed do the trick, because now I could get much better audio quality out of it. This meant my enjoyment of outdoors also increased.

Still very soon I got fed up with handling all the wires that were lying around my garden. One day I trip and injured my knee. Then I decided there is a need for something safer, before I break my bones. So after some research I decided to try out a wireless outdoor speaker. I was at first apprehensive as wireless may not be reliable. But my experience has been nothing short of wonderful.

“If I had to describe the MS500 wireless outdoor speaker in three words, I would use the following; fun, compact and freedom. The new Sony Ericsson MS500 wireless outdoor speaker which measures 113 x 83 x45 mm and weights at 155g (with batteries) will be available in trendy orange and black or chic white and pink. This is compatible with most Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones can support music streaming for up to 5 hours, and lasts up to 5 hours of battery life with 2x AA battery. Outdoor Wireless Speaker MS500 can be used with all types of mobile phone Bluetooth both SE and other brands.

Bluetooth technology enables the Sony Ericsson mobile phone functions as a remote control in the range of 10 meters. This can be remote to change tracks or increase the volume, allowing you to just sit back and relax with music without the need to move.

This is a very exciting time for all of us as the possibility such a accessory brings is enormous. This could make us do something that has been impossible with earphones. That is share music together, to listen to your favorite tunes with friends and family. This could make our musical experience mean so much more.

I am excited, are YOU!!!!!!

MOTOROKR EM35 Video

Ok a quick video on the EM35, nothing spunky but good

MOTOROKR EM35 and Virtual Surround Sound

Just grapling with some news that came up some days ago. It is the release of Motorolas new music phone.(literally a device that doubles as both a phone and a music player). It is the MOTOROKR EM35 .Here is a brief overview of what is available.

  • When listening with earphones, a unique algorithm enables music to sound as if it is playing in the space around your head, rather than inside of your eardrums, enhancing the way you listen to music

  • The new technology not only amplifies conversations, but also helps reduce background noise with CrystalTalk technology, a bonus when it comes to listening to favorite tracks or making calls in noisy public environment. The EM35 further enhances the audio quality with a second microphone that eliminates more ambient background noise from the call.

  • ROKR EM35 is a  music player with a full suite of dedicated keys to  launch and control music.  User can listen via the built-in dual speakers, stereo Bluetooth wireless technology or 3.5mm stereo wired headphones.

  • EM35’s robust MOTOMUSIC player, complete with keys to launch and control music on the go. It’s easy to navigate through your entire music library by using the handset’s FastScroll navigation wheel, which lets you select songs, albums and artists, as well as shuffle selections

  • Windows Media Player 11 gives users the ability to manage ymusic on a PC and discover new music from more than 200 on-line music stores worldwide. The ROKR EM35 has an integrated FM antenna that allows FM radio to be played over stereo Bluetooth or external stereo speakers without the use of a headset, and built-in FM radio with SONGID technology.

What caught my eye is the fact that this device has virtual surround sound enabled. It means that it is an audio system which attempts to create the perception that there are many more sources of sound than are actually present. In order to achieve this it is necessary to devise some means of tricking the human auditory system into thinking that a sound is coming from somewhere that it is not. This is very novel, and I feel is going to be a important step in the right direction. Lot of consumers has taken up the oppertunity to use virtual suuround sound because they can enjoy the experience of surround sound without the large number of speakers that are traditionally required to do so.

The EM35 is user can listen to music via the built-in dual speakers, stereo Bluetooth wireless technology or 3.5mm stereo wired headphones.

Outcast Outdoor Wireless Speaker Review

Guys, I am totaly pshyced about the new soundcast outcast wireless outdoor speaker system. It is just revolutionary.
I have seen so many reviews on this product that I decided to write a series of post on the capabilities of this and  why you should also be very interested. Today I stumble across a post that sums it up so well that I thought it would be the best introduction for you all.

I leave you with this extract from that article

“The Outcast speaker system from Soundcast is simply amazing. It wins two honors, the best wireless speaker I have ever heard. Period. Secondly, the largest battery pack I have ever set my eyes on . It wouldn’t surprise me if the engineering and design team behind this product had military experience because this thing is built like a tank. When the product is described as “All-weather, outdoor speaker system”, they are not lying. I honestly could see this speaker surviving a hurricane or 2.”

Logitech Z-5 speakers

A quick note on a set of impressive wireless surround speaker system the Logitech Z-5 omnidirectional stereo speakers. According to the reviewers  Logitech’s Z-5 speakers are somewhat out of the ordinary. Rather than shoot sound out in one direction, two stylish speaker stacks fire the sound out in all directions. I think it is a very innovative idea indeed, because it expands the capability of ordinary dual speakers.

They work with PCs and Macs and operate by plugging into a computer’s USB port, which is very convenient.Apart from the USB wire the only other wire is the one connecting the stacks together.

What caught my eye as always is the seemingly high quality that can be derived without any additional speakers, the reviewers say “When playing light, melodious music we were very impressed. Not being certain where some elements of the sound were coming from did make it feel more immersive”. The further added “The same went for movies. When there was distinct dialogue or subtle background music they sounded great.”

Acoustic Research Wireless Conversion

Hey there everyone quick post on something super cool. It seems acoustic research has once again come up with a new innovation in the wireless speakers arena. They have announced a 5.1 modular wireless speaker conversion system, which means you can after purchasing this unit  experience your home theater surround sound system without the hassle of running wires from their speakers to the receiver.

They do promise a lot in this system apart from the ability throw away those existing wires, including “six full bandwidth, 16-bit audio channels, and the “code-hopping circuitry” enables it to deliver CD-quality sound while “avoiding any potential interference from cordless phones, 802.11 computer networks and microwave ovens”

So why should you, the undeniable wireless outdoor speaker enthusiast be overjoyed, well let me remind you something I have been saying before that wireless outdoor speaker lags in surround sound capability. Now we can use our existing super quality surround sound wired outdoor speakers and make it wireless thus “it says goodbye to weak speakers, under-powered amps and massive signal distortion. With intelligent error correction, advanced antennas and powerful 50-watt digital amps, the ARW51 solution utilizes the users existing 5.1 speaker system to create a high-fidelity surround sound environment that brings home cinema to life.”

counting, counting, counting….(the days till they make it available so I can test it)

Wireless Outdoor Speakers: Is Wireless an advantage?

Today I am thinking of emphasizing a few facts that I glossed over in my introduction post. First of all I want to look at the most obvious advantage and see if it really is as advantageous as claimed by pundits of wireless outdoor speakers i.e: portability and range. So we all know that wireless outdoor speakers work on 900Mhz frequency band used in cordless phones and GSM network.

Do they have the range as advertised?

Well theoretical range depends on many factors, including the transmit power, environment conditions, receiver sensitivity, interference level etc… Generally it is better to think of the range of 300 feet radius as a maximum for transmitters with normal power in good weather conditions. If you want to enjoy music at a range close to that then expecting these to deliver high quality is not realistic. So I would say that you apply the 2/3 rule meaning if you want all weather distance of 200feet then go for one with 300feet range, and if you want 150 feet go for one with at least225 feet. This is not a hardcore rule, but something you should look into if you do not want to be disappointed.

Do they go through walls?

Yes, this frequency does go through walls, we know that simply because cell phones and cordless phones also work inside when you are separated from base station by several walls.

Are they portable?

Hmm, it is a yes and no. The catch hear is the power supply. Yes you can go for either wall socket(need wires) or batteries. Indoor speakers working on batteries are not a big issue as power sockets are available in almost any room inside the house, but wireless outdoor speakers used outdoors may not have that luxury. o9fcourse you can go for the batteries making it truly portable but at the same time means you have to take lot of batteries if you are going on a trip.

I hear they can interfere with other wireless devices?

Yes, sadly any two devices working on the same frequency range can interfere with each other. So there is a tendency for wireless outdoor speakers to interfere with cordless phones and baby monitors, but let me assure you the effect is minimal. additionally most manufactures now offer a knob that can be used to adjust the frequency in a given range if you find any such interference.
